On Monday, June 19, 2023, at about 10:23pm, Fort Worth police officers responded to a call at Cook Children’s Medical Center located at 801 7th Avenue. The call was in reference to a juvenile male victim who had arrived at the hospital by private vehicle and was in need of treatment for a gunshot wound.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the victim and discovered that the shooting had taken place in the 5500 block of Brentwood Stair Road, which is situated on the east side of Fort Worth.
Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was immediately transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center via private vehicle for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals, the 12-year-old boy's injuries proved fatal and he passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed this information.
At present, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
