The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) has provided an update on the investigation into the horrifying mass shooting incident that unfolded in the Como neighborhood on the night of July 3, 2023. The shooting occurred at the 3400 block of Hone Street, where a crowd of several hundred people had gathered at a local residence. In the aftermath of the incident, eleven individuals were left injured, with three tragically losing their lives.
According to the FWPD, preliminary investigations have revealed that "several unknown males" initiated the indiscriminate firing into the crowd before swiftly fleeing the scene. The FWPD, along with the entire community of Fort Worth, took this act of violence personally, and an intensive search for the culprits was launched.
Today, Chief of Police Neil Noakes made a significant announcement. Homicide Detectives successfully apprehended two suspects in connection with the mass shooting. The arrested individuals have been identified as 20-year-old Christopher Redic Jr. and 19-year-old Brandon Williams.
"We at the FWPD took it personally, along with all of Fort Worth... We are proud to announce that for the residents of Fort Worth, for the community of Como, and most importantly, for the victims who died that day - Today, Friday, July 7, 2023, Homicide Detectives arrested 20-year-old Christopher Redic Jr. and 19-year-old Brandon Williams," Chief Noakes stated.
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker expressed her gratitude to the entire Fort Worth Police Department, particularly the homicide and gang units, for their tireless efforts in resolving this case. She acknowledged that the shooting had deeply affected the entire city and had struck fear into the strong Como community.
"This act of violence has affected our entire city and terrorized the strong Como community, but most tragically has taken the lives of three innocent victims, Cynthia Santos, Gabriella Navarrete, and Paul Willis," Mayor Parker stated. She continued, "Thank you to the entire Fort Worth Police Department, particularly the homicide and gang units for their around-the-clock efforts. The investigation is ongoing, but we are hopeful that these arrests can be a path toward healing for our community. We will continue the hard work, support, and collaboration needed to keep our neighborhoods safe."
