Mother Arrested in Tarrant County for Medical Child Abuse

Jessica Gasser

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office has made a plea to the public for assistance in an ongoing investigation into a distressing case of Munchausen by Proxy, also known as medical child abuse. Authorities believe that 27-year-old Jessica Gasser, the primary suspect in the case, subjected her 3-year-old child to numerous unnecessary medical procedures over an undetermined period of time.

According to Tarrant County investigators, Gasser engaged in a pattern of medical child abuse, causing serious harm to her young child's well-being. The exact duration of this abuse remains unknown, but law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.

During the course of the abuse, Gasser allegedly communicated with a friend, expressing her intentions to delete all posts on Facebook relating to her child's health, including private messages. In an effort to gather additional evidence, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is requesting that individuals who have had any form of contact with Jessica Gasser through social media platforms, email, or text messages to reach out to Detective Michael Weber at 817-884-3749. Gasser has previously been identified under the screen name "MedicalMamaJess" online.

Last week, Jessica Gasser was apprehended by authorities in Rusk County and subsequently transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where she is currently being held in custody. The arrest marks a significant step forward in the investigation as law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence and work towards justice for the victimized child.

Munchausen by Proxy is a form of child abuse that involves a caregiver, typically a parent, exaggerating, fabricating, or inducing illness in a child to gain attention or sympathy for themselves. The condition poses severe risks to the child's physical and emotional well-being, often leading to unnecessary medical interventions and long-term harm.

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with pertinent information about this case to contact Detective Michael Weber immediately.
