Brazen Theft and Assault at Fort Worth Academy Store Leaves Clerk Injured, Police Looking for 5 Suspects

Suspect who assault store clerk

In a daring daylight heist, five suspects believed to be between the ages of 17 and 20 entered a local Academy store on July 23 at approximately 11:30 AM. The incident, which unfolded with calculated precision, resulted in stolen merchandise and a violent assault that left a clerk injured.

According to store personnel, the suspects, all male, wasted no time upon entering the premises. Their actions were captured on surveillance cameras, showing the suspects dispersing throughout the store. At least three of the individuals were observed selecting backpacks, seemingly preparing to commit a large-scale theft.

Eyewitnesses reported that the suspects began loading the pilfered backpacks with an assortment of items, including shoes, slides, and football equipment. Among the stolen goods were distinctive mouth guards, predominantly in shades of purple and yellow, potentially indicating a link to the suspects' school colors.

As the suspects continued their audacious looting spree, store personnel became suspicious and started monitoring their activities closely. The situation escalated when two of the suspects, wearing backpacks filled with stolen merchandise, managed to make a quick exit through a rear emergency door.

However, the brazen theft took a violent turn when one of the store clerks approached a suspect who had picked a distinctive multicolored backpack. This suspect, described as wearing a blue short-sleeved t-shirt with the words "New York City" emblazoned on the front, along with basketball shorts and slides, had long dreadlock-style hair.

An altercation ensued between the suspect and the store clerk, resulting in the assailant assaulting the clerk near the emergency exit. The clerk sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

Authorities have been reviewing the surveillance footage and gathering evidence to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the theft and assault. Law enforcement is actively seeking the public's assistance in providing any information that may aid in the investigation. The suspects, all of whom are believed to have varying lengths of dreadlock-style hair, are considered potentially dangerous and should not be approached by the public.

The Academy store remains open for business, with heightened security measures in place to ensure the safety of both customers and employees.
