In a display of swift and skillful action, the Fort Worth Fire Department once again showcased their dedication and expertise as they responded to a distress call on August 16, 2023. Just moments before 5 pm, the tones echoed through the fire station, signaling the urgent need for assistance at the intersection of South Beach Street and East Lancaster Avenue.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews from Engine 14, Engine 5, and Rescue 14 were met with a challenging situation – a young adult male had been struck by a train. With their training and experience at the forefront, these brave firefighters immediately sprung into action, fully aware that no call is like another.
The accident had taken place in an area with rugged terrain, presenting additional obstacles for the rescue operation. Negotiating through the difficult landscape, the firefighters reached the railroad tracks where they discovered the injured victim.
Utilizing a stokes basket – a specialized rescue equipment – they carefully secured the injured victim, ensuring his safety and stability during transportation.
Thanks to the remarkable efforts of the Fort Worth Fire Department, the victim was successfully extricated from the hazardous environment and promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Encouragingly, medical professionals expect the young man to make a full recover.
