On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Fort Worth Police responded to a burglar alarm call at a business in the 700 block of North Beach Street. Upon arrival, officers identified an adult white male as a possible suspect at the scene at 9:12 p.m.
The suspect, upon being identified, fled on foot northbound on North Beach Street. During the pursuit, the suspect fired a handgun multiple times at the pursuing officers. In response, three officers returned fire.
The chase concluded when the suspect fell on an embankment along the Hwy. 121 frontage road. At that point, he inflicted a gunshot wound to his head. Officers immediately provided medical aid, and the suspect was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will confirm the suspect's identity once next of kin is notified. A weapon was recovered at the scene by officers.
No officers or members of the community sustained injuries during the incident.
The Fort Worth Police Department Major Case Unit and Internal Affairs Unit are conducting an investigation into the incident. Upon completion, the findings will be forwarded to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office for standard review.
