High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest in Bedford: Suspect in Custody After Collision with Police Car

A woman is now in police custody following a high-speed chase that unfolded this morning in Bedford. The incident began around 9:15 a.m. when Bedford Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of Harwood Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers identified the stolen vehicle and spotted a female suspect associated with the reported theft. Attempts to make contact with the driver were met with the suspect fleeing in the stolen vehicle, which resulted in a collision with a police car.

The pursuit continued, leading to a parking lot where officers attempted to box in the stolen vehicle after it briefly stopped. However, the suspect rammed the officers' vehicles, freeing the stolen vehicle. In response, an officer fired three shots at the approaching vehicle.

Despite being struck, the suspect managed to drive a short distance before the chase concluded due to the vehicle's disabling from previous damages. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended by officers. Fortunately, neither the suspect nor any officers sustained significant injuries during the incident.

The female suspect remains unidentified at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, the Bedford Center YMCA experienced a temporary lockdown as a precautionary measure, which was lifted after authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat in the area.
