Just before 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to multiple calls reporting a fire in an apartment complex located in the 600 block of King George Dr. on the east side of the city.
Upon arrival, Engine 20 from #fwfd observed heavy smoke emanating from the apartment complex. Firefighters initiated efforts to combat the blaze while conducting searches for occupants. Two individuals were discovered inside and evacuated, receiving immediate life-saving care before being transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
The intensity of the fire prompted a progression to a 2nd and then a 3rd alarm before firefighters successfully brought it under control in just over an hour. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
The incident resulted in the displacement of 25 residents from the apartment complex. The American Red Cross Greater North Texas volunteers were on-site, providing assistance and support to those affected.
As investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
