Explosion and Fire at Fort Worth's Sandman Hotel Prompt Emergency Response and Family Assistance Center

At approximately 3:32 p.m. today, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a fire at the Sandman Hotel located at 810 Houston St. Shortly after arrival, the situation escalated, and the call was updated to an explosion at the same location.

The Fort Worth Police Department assisted by implementing street closures and clearing parking garages in the immediate area for safety measures. Fort Worth Fire officials detected an odor of gas in the vicinity and sought assistance from Atmos.

In response to the incident, a family assistance center/reunification center has been established at 200 W. 5th St. for family members seeking information about their loved ones.

As of the latest update, there are 21 reported injuries. Among them, one individual is in critical condition, four are seriously injured, and 14 have been transported to a local hospital. Additionally, one injured person self-transported to a hospital.

The situation is currently under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
