Assault Turns Deadly: Arrest Made in South Irving Murder

Raimond Rubio

On December 28, 2023, at around 11:40 am, an Irving Police Officer responded to an assault call in the 2200 block of Etain Rd in South Irving. The officer, upon arrival, requested backup, leading to the response of four additional officers to the scene. The initial focus of the investigation was Aggravated Assault With Deadly Weapon-Domestic Violence.

Upon reaching the residence, officers discovered 31-year-old Josue Rigoberto Umanzor with severe injuries. Umanzor was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Subsequently, the nature of the case shifted from aggravated assault to a homicide investigation.

Investigators identified 24-year-old Raimond Rubio as a suspect in connection with the incident. On December 29, 2023, Rubio was taken into custody and charged with Murder. His bond has been established at $1,000,000. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also filed a request for an immigration hold, citing Rubio's undocumented status in the country.  On January 1, 2024, Rubio was transferred to the Dallas County Jail.
