Bedford Apartment Fire Prompts Response from Firefighters and Collaborative Efforts from Area Agencies

On January 5, 2024, Bedford Firefighters rushed to the scene of a two-alarm fire at the 3 Thousand One Crystal Springs apartment complex, located at 3001 Crystal Springs St. The incident unfolded with a blaze breaking through the roof of an eight-unit apartment building.

Upon arrival, responding units immediately launched search and rescue operations alongside firefighting efforts. A resident, initially unaware of the fire, was successfully evacuated from the building. Subsequently, firefighters located and safely evacuated a cat from the premises.

In a challenging turn of events, within the first 10 minutes on the scene, the building's roof experienced a partial collapse. In response, firefighters transitioned to a defensive fire attack operation to contain the situation.

Despite the intensity of the incident, no civilians sustained injuries. However, one police officer suffered minor smoke inhalation, and fortunately, no firefighters were harmed during the course of the operation.

Efforts are now underway to assist displaced residents, with the City coordinating with the Red Cross for support. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Bedford Fire Department extends its gratitude for the collaboration with neighboring agencies, including the Euless Fire Department, City of Hurst, TX - City Hall, Grapevine Fire Department, Colleyville Fire Department, Watauga Fire Department, and Haltom City Fire Department.
