Fort Worth Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 5600 block of Shiloh Drive in the Como area around 11:45 PM on Sunday night. Station 16 arrived to find heavy smoke emerging from the one-story residence and initiated an interior attack.

During the operation, Quint 16 Captain Brian Alexander faced a critical situation, having to escape through a front window as the room suddenly flashed, engulfing it in flames. Recognizing the deteriorating conditions, Engine 30 Captain Larry Young acted fast, using a hoseline to knock down the fire from the outside, allowing Captain Alexander to escape.

Despite the intense situation, Alexander promptly returned to work, and the firefighting crews successfully brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.

This incident occurred amidst extreme weather conditions, with snow falling and temperatures hovering around 10 degrees. According to the Fort Worth Fire Deparment, the fire on Shiloh Drive was one of several incidents attributed to the challenging weather circumstances.
