Arrest Made in 2020 Killeen Murder Case

Killeen Police have made a breakthrough in a 2020 murder case, announcing the arrest of a suspect. Mark Anthony Hamilton, 43, was apprehended by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit for the murder of Tonya Denise Dixon.

The incident took place on December 17, 2020, when officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of S. 10th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Tonya Denise Dixon with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save her, Dixon succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After an extensive investigation, the case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney's Office on Monday, February 12, 2024. A complaint was issued, charging Mark Anthony Hamilton with murder. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest.

Members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star-Fugitive Task Force located Hamilton in the 1000 block of Willow Springs Road and arrested him without any resistance. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Bell County Jail.

Hamilton appeared before Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield for arraignment, during which his bond was set at $1,000,000.
