Woman Dead in Arlington Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Collision

The Arlington Police Department is currently investigating a tragic incident involving an auto-pedestrian collision resulting in the death of a 41-year-old woman.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, around 11:01 p.m. Officers responded to the 6400 block of S. Cooper Street following a 911 call from the driver of a 2015 Honda Accord, reporting the collision.

Upon arrival, authorities found the woman lying unresponsive in the northbound lanes of traffic. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It was noted that the woman was not utilizing a traffic light or designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.

According to the driver, he did not perceive the woman's presence until it was too late to avoid the collision. He remained present at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation. No criminal charges have been filed against him in connection to the incident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will handle the formal identification of the deceased.

In light of this tragic event, the Arlington Police Department emphasizes the importance of pedestrians adhering to traffic regulations, including the use of traffic lights and designated crosswalks, especially when crossing major thoroughfares. Crossing roadways outside of designated areas poses significant risks, particularly during nighttime when visibility is reduced.
