The Ellis County Sheriff's Office issued a statement regarding an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred on Friday, February 9, 2024, within the city limits of Glenn Heights, Texas. The incident unfolded around 2:45 pm when Glenn Heights Police Department responded to a reported robbery in the 2500 block of Sunburst Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered individuals matching the description of the robbery suspects. A confrontation ensued, leading to an altercation with one of the suspects who began firing a weapon at the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, resulting in the suspect sustaining life-threatening injuries. The suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment but was later pronounced deceased.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
