On the evening of February 25, 2024 Dallas Police Officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 8:50 p.m. The incident took place in the 2700 block of Easter Avenue near E. Kiest Blvd. in Cedar Crest.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a vehicle had crashed, with 17-year-old Keymere McCriston found shot inside. Dallas Fire and Rescue responded, transporting McCriston, as well as his injured passenger from the crash, to the hospital. McCriston succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his companion was treated and subsequently released.
Preliminary investigations conducted by detectives suggest that the two teenagers were victims of a shooting incident during a robbery.
The investigation into this event remains ongoing, documented under case number 031808-2024.
