A distressing event unfolded on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, when authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a male in need of emergency medical services in the 800 block of York Avenue.
According to reports, a City of Killeen Solid Waste employee who happened to be in the vicinity noticed several individuals attempting to aid a 20-year-old male who was found lying on the sidewalk. Upon the arrival of officers, the victim was unresponsive, and paramedics on the scene confirmed his passing.
The Office of the Justice of the Peace Nicola James was summoned, who officially pronounced the victim deceased. In light of the situation, an autopsy has been ordered to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science.
Authorities have assured the community that there is no indication of foul play and no perceived threat to public safety.
