North Texas Carjacker and Kidnapper Sentenced to 30 Years in Federal Prison

Anthony Gordon

Anthony Scott Gordon, 36, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Monday for his involvement in a series of violent crimes including carjacking and kidnapping, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton.

Gordon, who was indicted in November 2020, pleaded guilty in September 2022 to charges of kidnapping, carjacking, and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Judge Sam A. Lindsay.

According to plea documents, Gordon's crime spree began on August 6, 2020, when he approached a parked Ford F150 off Highway 20 in Fort Worth. Armed with two guns, he confronted the driver, identified as M.G., and demanded the vehicle. M.G. complied out of fear for her life, allowing Gordon to flee the scene with the stolen vehicle.

Four days later, Gordon entered a retail store in Richardson, pointed a gun at an employee identified as A.J., and demanded her vehicle parked outside. A.J., fearing for her safety, surrendered her keys, after which Gordon warned her against contacting the police before driving away in her vehicle.

Gordon admitted to another kidnapping in late August, where he abducted a victim identified as M.D. to prevent her from reporting his criminal activities. He physically assaulted her, destroyed her phone, and forcibly took her in his car, threatening further harm if she resisted. M.D. managed to escape when Gordon parked at a Motel 6 in Dallas.

In September, Gordon kidnapped another victim, identified as K.N., in an attempt to evade arrest after spotting law enforcement during a drug transaction in Fort Worth. He seized K.N. and attempted to use her as a shield while fleeing from police, but she managed to break free and seek help.

During the investigation, authorities discovered firearms including a Smith & Wesson 40 caliber pistol and a stolen Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun in Gordon's possession.

The case was investigated jointly by the Fort Worth Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office, and the Dallas Police Department.
