Fluor Corporation, headquartered in Irving, announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has chosen Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure, LLC (H2C) to carry out the Hanford Integrated Tank Disposition Contract. H2C is a joint venture led by a subsidiary of BWX Technologies, Inc., in collaboration with Fluor and Amentum. The contract, valued at up to $45 billion over ten years, focuses on environmental management operations at the Hanford Site in Washington state. Fluor will account for its portion of earnings through the equity method.

"We’ve been a proud member of the Tri-Cities community for more than 25 years," said Tom D’Agostino, Group President of Fluor’s Mission Solutions business. "The scope of work under this new contract is critical to the mission of cleaning up Hanford, and we are excited to begin building on the progress the tank farm facilities have already achieved."

The contract encompasses various tasks, including the operation of Hanford tank farm facilities, future operation of the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, and other essential functions such as project management, security, and environmental safety.

The Hanford Site, managed by the DOE, is undergoing extensive cleanup efforts due to its history of producing plutonium during the Cold War era. The DOE aims to transform the site into an operational facility to treat tank waste accumulated over several decades.
