Denton Police Secure Arrest Warrant for Carrollton Man in HIV-Related Sexual Assault Case

Carlton Tambaoga

The Denton Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Carlton Tambaoga, a 25-year-old Carrollton man, in connection with a sexual assault case from 2022.

Tambaoga faces six felony sexual assault charges, including aggravated sexual assault, following allegations made by a Denton woman in July 2022. At the time of the assault, the suspect's DNA profile was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database, but no matches were found.

In February 2024, detectives from the Carrollton Police Department notified Denton PD of a suspect arrested in similar cases within their jurisdiction. Subsequent investigation revealed that Tambaoga was aware of his HIV-positive status during the assaults.

Based on laboratory results confirming Tambaoga as the contributor of the DNA profile in the Denton case, Denton PD obtained an arrest warrant on Monday. Tambaoga has been held in Denton County Jail since February, with a bond set at $2.2 million.

Detective Marqui Curtis of Denton PD encourages anyone with information regarding Tambaoga or related incidents in Denton to contact them at (940) 349-7727.
