Burglary Suspect Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Fleeing Fort Worth Police on I-30

The Fort Worth Police Department is currently investigating an auto-pedestrian fatality that occurred in the 4200 block of I-30 Westbound.

On April 12, 2024, around 6:10 a.m., officers from the East Division responded to a burglary call in the 1200 block of Oakland Blvd. Witnesses reported a male suspect attempting to gain entry by pulling on the doors of a closed medical facility.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect had moved to a nearby business where he again attempted entry. As officers attempted to speak with the suspect, he fled on foot towards I-30W.

Additional officers responded, attempting to prevent the suspect from entering oncoming traffic. However, the suspect crossed the Bridge St. service road, jumped the guardrail, and ran into traffic on I-30W, where he was struck by a pickup truck.

The driver of the vehicle stopped to render aid, while emergency personnel were called to the scene. Unfortunately, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once the next of kin has been notified. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
