Three Fort Worth Men Plead Guilty to Robbing U.S. Letter Carrier

Three individuals from Fort Worth, Cedrick Eugene Mims, Danny Yogi Oriszul Powell, and Cameron Kemond Gist, admitted guilt to robbing a U.S. letter carrier, as announced by U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Leigha Simonton.

According to court records, Mr. Powell entered his plea on March 6, Mr. Mims on March 13, and Ms. Gist on April 17, all pleading guilty to the robbery of property belonging to the United States. The incident occurred on October 24, 2023, in Fort Worth.

Mr. Mims confessed to brandishing a 39mm pistol at the carrier, identified as C.S., and demanding "the key," referring to the carrier's "Arrow Key," which is a master key utilized by the U.S. Postal Service for mail collection from blue collection boxes—a coveted item among mail thieves.

The trio also stole a postal scanner and the keys to the letter carrier's official vehicle. Plea documents indicate that Mr. Powell acted as the getaway driver, while Mr. Gist provided the firearms.

Due to the dangerous weapon enhancement, Mr. Mims and Mr. Gist potentially face up to 25 years in federal prison, while Mr. Powell faces a maximum sentence of 10 years.

The investigation was led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service with assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Montes is prosecuting the case.
