Fort Worth Serial Rapist and Murderer Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison

On August 14, 2024, 36-year-old Lee Dexter Joiner pled guilty and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for Murder and Aggravated Sexual Assault.  The case was prosecuted by Tarrant County Assistant District Attorneys Darren De La Cruz and Kim D'Avignon.  The DA Investigator was Chris LaChance and the Victim Coordinator was Cecelia Jones. 

The charges stem from an incident on September 7, 2019.  On that day, Joiner raped and beat to death 53-year-old Ruby Antionette Maeda.  After killer her, he proceeded to dump her body in a parking lot in the 1500 block of South Ederville Road, south of I-30 in East Fort Worth.  Paramedics said that Maeda was dead when they found her.  

Further investigation revealed that days prior to the murder of Ms. Maeda, Joiner had raped two other women in the same area of Fort Worth.  A 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted around 5 a.m. on August 29, 2019 in the 1900 block of South Ederville Road and a 40-year-old woman was raped at 4 a.m. on September 3, 2019 . Both of those women survived their ordeal.  

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office gave thanks and appreciation to the Fort Worth Police Department, FWPD Sex Crimes Detective Montoya and Homicide Detective Sullivan for their work in investigating this case..
