The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday, August 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the 4800 block of South Freeway, near the Seminary Drive exit.
According to officials, South Division officers, Fort Worth Fire Department, and MedStar EMS responded to an accident involving two vehicles. The investigation revealed that a black vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, rear-ended a sedan at the Seminary Drive exit ramp, resulting in the sedan catching on fire.
The sedan contained five occupants, all of whom were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release their identities once next-of-kin notifications are completed.
The driver of the black vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment before being booked into jail. Eduardo Gonzalez, a 19-year-old male from Fort Worth, faces charges of five counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.
The Fort Worth Police Department urges the community to avoid drinking and driving and to call 911 if they suspect a driver is impaired.
