Crowley Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Murder of Arkansas Teen

Quinton Hicks

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office announced that 25-year-old Quinton Hicks has pled guilty to Murder and three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Hicks was sentenced to 25 years in prison on September 6, 2024.

The charges stem from an incident on May 30, 2020, in Crowley. Hicks fired multiple rounds at a vehicle, fatally striking 17-year-old Caleb Jalee'l Chambers of Strong, Arkansas, in the back of the head. Chambers was visiting his father and family in Crowley at the time.

According to the investigation, Chambers had been with his brother and two others. They had left the family’s Crowley home, stopped at a Taco Bell for food, and then went to a 7-Eleven for drinks. At the 7-Eleven, Chambers was confronted by Hicks and another suspect, 30-year-old Donell Lewie, who were near the store entrance. Although there was no physical altercation, Hicks and Lewie exchanged words with Chambers.

Chambers entered the store, and as he returned to the car, one of the suspects went to their vehicle, retrieved a rifle, and shot several rounds into the air. Chambers and his brother left the scene and drove away, but Hicks and Lewie followed them. Hicks opened fire on their vehicle, killing Chambers.

Donell Lewie was later captured in Arkansas by U.S. Marshals and Little Rock Police. The Crowley Police Department conducted the investigation into the case.
