Aaron Blackmore, 38, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on August 30, 2024, after a Tarrant County jury found him guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred on October 15, 2022, at a family friend’s home in Fort Worth, where Blackmore threatened a 35-year-old woman with two kitchen knives after making a series of disparaging comments.
According to testimony, Blackmore roamed around the house agitated, directing insults at those present before escalating the situation by arming himself with the knives.
During the trial, the jury heard about Blackmore’s extensive criminal history.. Prosecutors also highlighted his affiliation with a street gang, a factor that contributed to the severity of the charges and sentencing. The gang-related nature of the case was emphasized by the involvement of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Gang Intelligence Unit, which worked closely with the Fort Worth Police Department in the investigation.
Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Jackson, Michael Mayfield, and Michael Cassidy prosecuted the case, arguing that Blackmore’s dangerous behavior and his criminal past warranted a lengthy sentence. The jury agreed, sentencing him to four decades in prison, ensuring he will serve a significant portion of his life behind bars.
