Fort Worth Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves Man Dead After Suicide Attempt Call

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, September 23, in the 4800 block of Selkirk Drive in West Fort Worth.

At approximately 6:07 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man threatening self-harm while armed with a gun. Upon arrival, officers sought to locate the individual and found his vehicle nearby, along with the man.

During the encounter, shots were fired, resulting in the man being pronounced deceased at the scene. A handgun was discovered near his body. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man's identity once next of kin have been notified.

No officers or community members sustained injuries during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the department is working to confirm the details surrounding the shooting.
