Suspect Barricades Himself in Hurst Residence After Walmart Theft

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Hurst police officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at the Walmart located at 1732 Precinct Line Rd. A male suspect had been observed concealing items in his pockets.

Upon being approached by officers, the suspect fled the scene and barricaded himself inside a residence on Green Tree Dr. Hurst police, along with a SWAT team, established a perimeter around the home and initiated contact with the suspect via phone.

After nearly two hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without further incident. He faces multiple charges, including outstanding warrants from several agencies.

Authorities temporarily blocked off Harwood Rd. during the standoff and thanked the public for their patience throughout the incident.
