Fort Worth Police Seek Suspects in Cable Wire Theft After Transformer Explosion

The Fort Worth Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a cable wire theft from Labor Day Weekend. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., when two individuals entered a business park in the 4000 block of E Loop 820 S in east Fort Worth. The suspects attached a chain from their truck's bumper to a section of AT&T wire, resulting in a transformer explosion and power outages for nearby homes.

The following day, around 1 p.m., the suspects returned to the same location in the same truck. Surveillance footage captured one suspect cutting the wire with a tool while the second suspect assisted in loading it into the truck bed.

The Fort Worth Police Department has released the video of both incidents on YouTube:

Anyone with information about the suspects or the case is encouraged to contact Officer Wright at 817-392-4614. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.

The police department reminds the public to report unusual activity to help prevent crime and keep communities safe. Reference Report # 240069083 when providing information.
