Late Wednesday night, October 2nd, around 11:45 p.m., the Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) responded to a call for an individual who had fallen more than 10 feet inside one of the abandoned grain silos at 1937 South Main Street.
Upon arrival, FWFD crews immediately called for a high-angle rescue response after locating the individual several stories up inside the silo. Accessing the patient’s location was challenging, but FWFD medics treated him at the scene.
Technical Rescue Teams (TRT) arrived and used specialized equipment to package the patient for removal. He was hoisted up from his location using rope systems and brought outside through a 5th-story window. Crews then safely lowered him to the ground using Tower 8.
The patient, who was in serious condition, was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
