On September 30, 2024, Tarrant County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) Deputies Reyes and Drummond responded to a crash involving a Ford F-150 that had struck a culvert and landed in a ditch. The vehicle caught fire, trapping the driver inside.
Deputy Reyes, upon discovering the situation, attempted to extinguish the flames but was unsuccessful as the fire continued to grow. Acting quickly, he broke the vehicle's glass and tried to pull the driver to safety, but the driver’s foot was stuck on the pedals. Deputy Drummond swiftly cut the seatbelt, enabling Deputy Reyes to enter the vehicle and free the driver’s burning foot. Together, they carried the driver to safety, where EMS provided immediate care.
