Teenager Dies in High-Speed Single-Vehicle Crash on N. Collins Street in Arlington

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred on October 22, 2024, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old male. Around 9:52 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of N. Collins Street, where a minivan had veered off the road and overturned.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed in the southbound lanes when it struck a curb, went airborne, and flipped multiple times before coming to rest in a field. The teenage driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once the next of kin has been notified.

The Arlington Police Department urges all drivers to obey speed limits and wear seatbelts at all times.

UPDATE:  The deceased teen was identified as 17-year-old Aaron Barajas Vasquez.  The other man killed was 21-year-old Manuel De Jesus Lugo.
