Two Men Arrested After Armed Confrontation at North East Mall

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, at approximately 4:49 PM, two uniformed officers patrolling the North East Mall, located at 1101 Melbourne Rd., were alerted near the Food Court about a report of a firearm discharge within the mall. Officers immediately called for additional units, prompting the North East Mall to implement lockdown procedures. Multiple agencies responded to assist.

During their investigation, officers determined that two males had been involved in a verbal dispute near the Food Court, during which both displayed handguns. Authorities confirmed that no shots were fired. By 4:58 PM, officers located and detained both individuals at different locations nearby. They were arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct, with the potential for additional charges pending further investigation.

There is no ongoing threat to the community, and the North East Mall has resumed normal operations.

The Hurst Police Department extended its gratitude to witnesses who provided information that aided in the swift resolution of the incident and to neighboring law enforcement agencies for their support.
