The Denton Police Department has arrested a Dallas man and woman for Murder following an investigation into a fatal fentanyl overdose.
On December 27, 2024, Denton Police and Fire responded to a residence in the 2200 block of W. Hickory Street for an overdose call. A woman, identified as 34-year-old Amber Morris, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives determined that 29-year-old Taylor Lambert and 38-year-old Matthew “Hunter” Clark had sold fentanyl to Morris the evening before her death. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her cause of death as fentanyl bromazolam and diazepam toxicity.
Based on the evidence, a Denton Police Department detective obtained a Murder warrant for Lambert. On March 12, 2025, Texas Department of Public Safety officers arrested Lambert without incident in Richardson. Following an interview with Lambert, Denton detectives obtained an additional Murder warrant for Clark.
On March 13, Texas DPS officers arrested Clark without incident in the 12000 block of Coit Road in Dallas.
Lambert is currently held at the Denton County Jail with a $250,000 bond. A bond has not yet been set for Clark.
This marks the eighth fentanyl-related Murder arrest in Denton since a state law went into effect on September 1, 2023, which created a criminal offense of Murder for supplying fentanyl that results in death.
