Frisco Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Islamic Center of Frisco (ICF), located at 11137 Frisco Street. A security guard was severely lacerated with a machete, and the suspect is now in custody.
At approximately 10:58 p.m., Frisco Police Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the mosque. Callers provided a description of the suspect, who was still at large. Upon arrival, officers quickly located and detained 26-year-old Malik Davis.
Other officers immediately rendered aid to the victim, a uniformed security guard at the mosque, who sustained large lacerations to his head and one of his hands. The victim was transported by Frisco Fire to a local hospital, where he was treated and subsequently released.
The initial investigation revealed that Davis approached the victim from behind while the victim was praying inside the mosque. In an unprovoked manner, Davis then struck the victim multiple times with a machete. During a struggle, Davis took possession of the victim’s firearm but later abandoned it before being confronted by officers outside. The victim's firearm was recovered at the scene.
Davis was transported to the Frisco Holding Facility and charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Security Officer (1st-degree felony) and Theft of a Firearm (2nd-degree felony). He was later transferred to the Collin County Jail, with a total bond set at $60,000.
The investigation is ongoing. While Davis was known to the mosque community and had been a regular attendee for several months, authorities have stated that nothing currently suggests the incident was a hate crime.
