Two Men Charged in 2003 Arlington Nightclub Murder After New Witness Comes Forward

Raymond Malone and John Biddle

Arlington, TX — Two men have been arrested in connection with the 2003 shooting death of 24-year-old Terrick Rutherford, who was killed after an altercation at a nightclub led to a deadly shooting on N. Watson Road.

The Arlington Police Department’s Homicide Unit obtained murder warrants for 55-year-old Raymond Malone and 52-year-old John Wayne Biddle. Both suspects were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force—Biddle on July 31 in Fort Worth and Malone on August 1, also in Fort Worth. Both arrests were made without incident.

On June 23, 2003, at approximately 2:27 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Randol Mill Road and Web Street regarding a shooting. They located a pickup truck riddled with bullet holes. Rutherford was inside, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, and being transported to a hospital by a relative. He was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined Rutherford had been at a nightclub in the 700 block of N. Watson Road earlier in the evening. Witnesses stated that a group of males approached him, and an argument escalated into a fight in the parking lot. After security broke up the fight, Rutherford left in his vehicle. As he drove north on N. Watson Road, near Six Flags Drive, multiple shots were fired at his vehicle, striking him. He then crashed into another vehicle at the intersection. A relative, who was driving behind him, witnessed the shooting.

At the time of the original investigation, Malone and Biddle were identified as suspects and were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, but both were later no-billed by a grand jury due to lack of evidence.

In July 2025, a new witness came forward and provided information consistent with the original investigation and placed both suspects at the scene. Detectives followed up with original witnesses and consulted with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office before securing murder warrants.

Malone and Biddle are currently held at the Tarrant County Jail, each on a $100,000 bond.
