IRVING, Texas - Special Strong, a provider of adaptive and inclusive fitness programs for individuals with mental, physical and cognitive disabilities, has expanded into North Texas with the opening of a new franchise serving Irving, Denton, Coppell, Grand Prairie and surrounding communities.
The new location is owned and operated by Bindu Srinath, a Certified Adaptive Fitness Trainer whose work in adaptive fitness began after her son was diagnosed with ADHD and learning difficulties more than 16 years ago.
A former dental surgeon, Srinath transitioned her career into special education and movement-based therapy. She also holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration and has worked extensively with individuals living with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other developmental differences.
"Every small step forward for every athlete is how I define success," Srinath said. "Whether it's walking into a session with a smile, making eye contact, taking a first independent step, or building confidence, every milestone is worth celebrating."
The Irving-Denton franchise offers one-on-one adaptive personal training, small group fitness classes, virtual coaching and inclusive community fitness programs designed to improve strength, coordination, balance, confidence and overall quality of life for children, teens and adults with a wide range of disabilities.
To celebrate the opening, Special Strong Irving-Denton will host a free grand opening event on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Pinstack Irving. The event will feature adaptive fitness demonstrations, bowling, face painting, raffle prizes, giveaways and opportunities for families to meet the coaching staff and learn about available programs.
Special Strong was founded in 2016 by CEO Daniel Stein, who was inspired to create adaptive fitness programs after overcoming his own learning disability, mood disorder and autoimmune disease. The company now provides fitness services to children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, rare genetic conditions and other physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities.
"When I began franchising in 2020, I was inspired to not only help Special Strong's clients, but also leaders who share a passion for empowering individuals with special needs through fitness," Stein said. "Bindu's background, credentials and personal story make her exactly the kind of owner this mission calls for."
