IRVING, Texas - Wayland Baptist University will officially open its new Irving location on Saturday, Aug. 8, expanding the university's international graduate education program in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The new location is at 211 W. 3rd Street in downtown Irving. WBU made an agreement to use the buildings owned by the First Methodist Church.
The grand opening ceremony will also serve as orientation for the university's newest class of international master's and doctoral students, who are scheduled to begin classes in September.
University President Dr. Donna Hedgepath, members of the President's Cabinet, representatives from the International Programs department and the university's international education partner are expected to attend the event, along with an increased number of incoming international students.
"The opening of our Irving location reflects Wayland's continued commitment to expanding access to a Christ-centered, high-quality education for students from around the world," Hedgepath said. "We are excited to welcome students to Irving and look forward to the positive impact this location will have on their educational journey and future success."
The new Irving site will provide classroom instruction and student support services for Wayland's expanding International Program. University officials said the location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex will offer students greater access to employers, professional networking opportunities and academic resources while completing their graduate degrees.
During orientation, students will receive information about their academic programs, university expectations and the support services available throughout their studies.
The university's international education partner, which assists prospective students with the admissions process and preparation for studying in the United States, will also participate in the opening ceremony.
Wayland officials said the Irving location represents a significant step in expanding the university's international education efforts and expect the campus to grow as enrollment increases. Future expansion could include additional graduate programs and undergraduate offerings, subject to institutional, governmental and accreditation approvals.
