Irving National Night Out Set for Oct. 6, Neighborhoods Invited to Host Block Parties

IRVING, Texas - Irving residents are encouraged to bring their neighbors together for block parties and invite local police officers, firefighters and other city representatives as part of National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The annual event is designed to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement while encouraging neighbors to get to know one another and work together to improve community safety.

The Irving Police Department, Irving Fire Department and other City of Irving teams will visit registered National Night Out gatherings throughout the city between 4:30 and 9 p.m.

Neighborhoods interested in having police officers or other city representatives visit their event must register their block party through the City of Irving National Night Out website. The registration deadline is Sept. 25.

Irving promotes National Night Out as a "going away party" for crime, giving residents, elected officials, businesses and public safety personnel an opportunity to meet in an informal neighborhood setting.

While National Night Out is observed in many communities across the country, Texas holds its events in October rather than the traditional August observance.

Irving's National Night Out activities are scheduled from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6.
