Irving Traffic Stop Leads to Meth, Cocaine Arrest on Belt Line Road

IRVING, Texas - An Irving woman is facing two felony drug charges after police said they found individually packaged bags of methamphetamine and cocaine during a traffic stop on North Belt Line Road.

Katia Isabel Villareal, 49, was arrested Sept. 17 and charged with two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 between 1 and 4 grams, both second-degree felonies.

According to police, an Irving officer was patrolling shortly before 10 p.m. when the officer paced a silver 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling approximately 50 mph in a posted 40 mph zone.

The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of North Belt Line Road, between West Pioneer Drive and Conflans Road.

Villareal was a passenger in the Tahoe. During the stop, police said she told the officer she had narcotics inside a coin purse.

Villareal opened the purse, and the officer observed multiple small clear, green and red baggies, according to the police account. Investigators determined the clear bags contained methamphetamine, while the green and red bags contained cocaine.

Police reported finding nine baggies containing a combined 3.7 grams of methamphetamine and 14 baggies containing a combined 4 grams of cocaine.

Based on the quantity and individual packaging, police accused Villareal of possessing the drugs for distribution. She was arrested and booked into the Irving Jail.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Ernesto Javier Alvarez-Marquez, was also arrested for driving without a driver's license. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requested an immigration hold for Alvarez-Marquez, according to the information provided by police.
