Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Strangling Woman, Causing Traumatic Brain Injury

FORT WORTH, Texas - A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted in a Fort Worth courtroom of assaulting a woman during a prolonged domestic violence attack that left her with a traumatic brain injury.

Alexander James Baker was convicted Sept. 22 in Tarrant County Criminal District Court No. 4.

The case stemmed from a Feb. 17, 2024, assault that began when Baker and the woman became involved in an argument inside a vehicle.

Over the next four hours, Baker beat the woman, repeatedly striking her in the face with his fist. He also strangled her multiple times until she lost consciousness. The attack resulted in a traumatic brain injury.

Fort Worth police investigated the assault and arrested Baker.

Baker was convicted of assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation with a previous assault conviction, a second-degree felony. He also was convicted of assault of a family or household member with a previous conviction, a third-degree felony.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
