Today, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) answered a call from the University of Texas (UT) in Austin for assistance in maintaining order on campus. This action was taken at the direction of Texas Governor Gregg Abbott to prevent any unlawful assembly and to support UT Police in upholding peace.
DPS, working in coordination with UT Police, aimed to arrest individuals engaging in criminal activities, including criminal trespassing. Although operational details are not disclosed, DPS assures that they will adapt their operations as necessary to support law enforcement partners and ensure public safety.
With a commitment to safeguarding the people and property of Texas, DPS has already made over 20 arrests on the UT campus.
