Arlington Police Respond to Incident Involving Armed Individual

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at approximately 4:41 p.m., the Arlington Police Department received reports of a possible stabbing at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Lawrence Road. Responding officers encountered an adult male wielding a knife upon arrival at the scene.

Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, the individual failed to comply and instead moved towards the officers. In response, one officer discharged their service weapon, causing the individual to flee towards a wooded area nearby.

After a pursuit on foot, the individual turned back towards the officers with the knife raised, prompting another discharge of the officer's weapon. Subsequently, the individual was immobilized with a taser and detained.

During the altercation, the individual sustained a gunshot wound and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. No officers were harmed during the incident.

Authorities conducted a sweep of the apartment and surrounding area but found no additional individuals in need of assistance. Investigations are ongoing, including the possibility that the individual involved in the altercation was also the caller who initiated the police response.
