The Arlington Police Department has arrested 33-year-old Nathan Vaughan in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left two pedestrians dead on December 15, 2024. The collision occurred at the intersection of E. Lamar Boulevard and Corporate Drive, where the victims, 22-year-old Jahlil Royale Kirkland and a 23-year-old female, were struck by a vehicle.
Crash investigators identified Vaughan as the driver after receiving a tip from the public on December 16, 2024. The tipster reported seeing a silver Chevrolet Malibu, with heavy front-end damage matching the description of the suspect vehicle, parked at a bar on Great Southwest Parkway. The tipster also provided photos and a tag number.
Using this information, the APD's Real-Time Crime Center traced the Malibu's movements using traffic and Flock cameras. Officers later located the vehicle at Vaughan's Grand Prairie residence. When questioned, Vaughan admitted to driving the Malibu but initially thought he had struck a light pole. Investigators determined Vaughan had just left a bar along E. Lamar Boulevard when the collision occurred.
Vaughan was initially arrested on December 17, 2024, for unrelated outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Following his arrest, he was charged with two counts of Collision Involving Death. He is currently held at the Arlington City Jail.
The victims, believed to have been living in local motels, were tentatively identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
