On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at approximately 11:33 p.m., Arlington Police officers responded to a crash on the westbound lanes of I-20 near Matlock Road involving a pickup truck and a car.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult female lying unresponsive in the roadway. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined the woman was driving one of the vehicles involved. Witnesses reported that her vehicle had stalled and was positioned sideways across two lanes of the highway before the crash. Authorities believe she exited her vehicle and was standing in a lane of traffic when both she and the car were struck by an oncoming pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators stated that due to the conditions at the time and the position of the stalled vehicle, the driver of the truck likely could not see the car before the collision. No criminal charges have been filed.
Westbound lanes of I-20 remained closed for approximately four hours while crews cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
