Julian Isaiah Howard, 17, pled guilty to murder on March 21, 2025, and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Etavian Barnes at Arlington Bowie High School.
The shooting occurred on April 24, 2024, just as the dismissal bell was about to ring. Barnes was shot multiple times near a portable building on campus. He was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. According to reports, Howard targeted Barnes.
The case was prosecuted by Tim Rodgers and Grayson Ezzell.
