The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced on Monday, April 21st, that 28-year-old Catderian Dejuan Strong has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to 27 years in prison.
The crime occurred on July 1, 2023, when Strong fatally shot 33-year-old Marquece Taylor multiple times in the head and torso. According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Forest Hollow Lane.
Witnesses reported that the victim and another male were involved in a physical altercation before the shooting. After the fight was broken up, the victim began following the other male towards a second-floor apartment. Detectives later learned that the victim was in a relationship with a family member of Strong. Moments later, multiple shots were fired, and Arlington Police detectives found 15 spent rounds at the scene.
The investigation identified Strong as the suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended Strong at a residence in Fort Worth on July 2nd, 2023, without incident.
The jury was presented with Strong's criminal history, which includes a prior felony conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm. Assistant District Attorneys Idris Akinpelu and Kole Read prosecuted the case for the State.
