A Tarrant County jury sentenced 40-year-old Douglas Aaron Lawhon to 50 years in prison on May 2nd, 2025, after finding him guilty of aggravated sexual assault.
The case stemmed from an incident on September 11, 2022, when Lawhon and his spouse, who was five weeks pregnant at the time, were involved in an argument. According to court testimony, the victim attempted to defuse the situation by leaving to allow Lawhon to calm down. However, upon her return, Lawhon remained angry, subsequently attacking and sexually assaulting her.
The Arlington Police Department conducted the investigation into the assault. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Darren De La Cruz and Melinda Hogan, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Dara DeWall and victim coordinator Cristina Rangel.
