Second Defendant in Duncanville Meth Trafficking Case Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison

Moises Elias Saavedra-Posadas

A second defendant involved in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation in Duncanville has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, according to Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham.

Moises Elias Saavedra-Posadas, 45, a Mexican national illegally residing in the United States, pleaded guilty in February 2025 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. On May 28, 2025, U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey sentenced him to 240 months in prison.

Court documents show Saavedra-Posadas assisted co-defendant Gerardo Barraza-Ortiz in delivering more than four grams of 100% pure methamphetamine on two occasions. Duncanville Police executed a search warrant at an auto body shop on South Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas, where they discovered documents linking Saavedra Posadas to the operation.

During a search of the property on June 2, 2022, officers found approximately 48.66 kilograms (107.05 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine, most of it hidden in 1,022 small packages inside buckets and pallets. The shop was equipped with a freezer, burners, coolers, storage bins, and barrels used for processing liquid methamphetamine into crystal form. Officers also seized three firearms and several pounds of marijuana.

According to the Duncanville Police Department, the seized methamphetamine carried an estimated street value of over $3.1 million if sold by the ounce in the Dallas area.

Barraza-Ortiz was previously sentenced to 262 months in federal prison in March 2025 by the same judge.

The case was investigated by the Duncanville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys George Leal and Sarah Douglas.
