The Frisco Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 7-year-old child who was pulled unresponsive from a pond on Saturday evening.
At approximately 8:46 p.m. on May 31, 2025, Frisco Police and Fire personnel responded to reports of a possible drowning in a retention pond located in the 2400 block of Preston Road, behind businesses on the northwest corner of Preston Road and SH 121.
Multiple callers reported a child may have entered the pond. Upon arrival, officers searched the shoreline while Frisco Fire divers entered the water to conduct an underwater search. Additional assistance was requested from Texas DPS air support, the Lewisville Fire Department, and the Allen Police Department K9 unit.
At approximately 9:19 p.m., the child was located by divers and transported to Children’s Hospital in Plano. At around 9:50 p.m., officials were notified that the child had died.
Initial findings indicate no foul play is suspected, and no criminal charges are being filed. The child’s identity is not being released at this time.
